ME Department Labs

Department Laboratories
The Department operates a number of laboratories, both for teaching and research purposes. A brief description of the laboratories available is provided below.

Students of the Department also have access to the University’s general purpose computer laboratories. These laboratories, with a total of 140 workstations, offer a wide variety of software including office applications, programming environments, mathematical packages. The laboratories provide high-speed Internet access and printing facilities and are accessible 08:00 to 21:00 daily.

Physics Lab
Laboratory used by engineering students to carry out experiments in Physics.

The laboratory operates in the Nicosia campus and offers the students a dedicated and fully equipped space for the performance of practical sessions. A wide range of experiments in the Mechanics, Dynamics, Electromagnetism, Heat and Waves can take place giving the students a hands-on experience and understanding of the basic laws and principles of physics.

Renewable Energy Sources (RES) Laboratory
The Laboratory is used for Research & Development on Renewable Energy Resources (RES) and Hydrogen (H2), focussing on Solar/Wind Energy and Hydrogen Technologies. The laboratory is mostly used by the Researchers to perform high quality research within National and European projects. It is also used for demonstrations in the Materials and Energy courses taken by the Mechanical Engineering students.

Materials Characterization Laboratory
The Laboratory is used for Research & Development on Hi-Tech materials focussing on the characterization of such materials. The laboratory is mostly used by the Researchers to perform high quality research within National and European projects.

Vehicle Systems Laboratory
Laboratory used by students to simulate and view various vehicle systems such as chassis, engines, transmissions, rear axles and electrical and electronic systems

Materials Preparation and Processing Laboratory
The Laboratory is used for Research & Development on Hi-Tech materials focussing on the preparation and processing of such materialsThe laboratory is mostly used by the Researchers to perform high quality research within National and European projects.

Mechanical Engineering Laboratory |

Laboratory used by Department students for conducting various experimental tests in the area of materials, metrology, fluid Mechanics, air conditioning and refrigeration.

Mechanical Engineering Laboratory II
The Mechanical Engineering Laboratory II covers an area of approximately 50 square meters of space and can facilitate up to 12 students at a time.
