Following a two-year diploma in Business Studies at FIT, Angelos Menelaou entered the City University of New York, York College, where he completed the BSc in Accounting in 1992. He then pursued his interests in maritime studies by completing the MSc in Transportation Management of the Maritime College of the State University of New York (SUNY) with specialization in shipping economics and transportation management. In pursuing his research interests, he has completed his Doctorate Degree at Middlesex University in 2011. His research focused on IT tools and workflow processes aiming at improving productivity and quality of work in ship management organizations. He is the author of a book with title: ‘Enhancement of Productivity through an Integrated Crew Management System’. He also has experience in research coordination and he participated in a number of funded research projects. Dr Menelaou has played a prominent part role in the development of a focused shipping industry studies in Cyprus being the instigator and Course Leader of the first of its type maritime bachelor degree program in the country. Since 1999, he has been lecturing Human Resources Management and Shipping Economics at Frederick University. He has chaired the first two international scientific maritime conferences organized by the University. Dr Menelaou has some 25 years’ experience in the maritime industry, gained across a wide range of roles including shipping economics, accounting and human resources management. He is currently the Project Manager of Marlow Navigation Co Ltd. one of the world’s largest crew management companies that employs on board approximately 13,000 seafarers at any given time.
