Dr Victoria Pavlou is an Associate Professor of Visual Arts Education at Frederick University Cyprus and affiliated member of FRC (Frederick Research Center). She holds a Teacher diploma from the Pedagogical Academy of Cyprus, a BEd from the University of Athens (graduated first in her year) and a MA in Educational Studies (with distinction) from Warwick University. She received the Ph.D. degree in Education in 2003 from the Institute of Education, University of London (School of Arts and Humanities & School of Human Development). She joined the Department of Education in 2008. Prior to this appointment she worked as a research officer at the Institute of Education (University of London), as a post-doctoral researcher and visiting lecturer at the University of Aegean (Greece), and as a visiting lecturer at the University of Cyprus. Her research interests focus primarily in the area of visual arts in primary education: initial teacher education and continuing teacher professional development (profiling teaching styles, teachers’ attitudes and knowledge, developing pedagogical content knowledge, etc.), pupils’ learning preferences, motivation and creative potentials, and integrating ICT in learning and teaching (multliteracies and multimodality, open and close software, online interactive activities, video art, etc.). She has experiences in numerous European projects (e.g. KC-MEM, Digiworld, Training Educators in ICT issues, etc.) and was external evaluator in European funded projects (e.g. reviewer of the EnVIL’s (European Network of Visual Literacy Network) Comenius project titled "Common European Framework of Reference on Visual Literacy"). Her teaching interests include visual arts education, museum education, educational evaluation, artistic expression and new technologies in education, multimodality, pedagogy, and research methods. She has presented her work in numerous scientific conferences and international journal publications such as the International Journal of Art and Design Education, Studies in Educational Evaluation, Visual Inquiry: Learning and Teaching Art, International Journal of Education through Art, etc. She was a board member of the European InSEA (International Society of Education through Art) Regional Council during 2011-2018.
