Frederick University's FUF Racing Team will participate in the International Formula Student Competition held on July 12-16, in Italy with a formula race car designed and built from scratch by the team's student members.

The race car was unveiled on Wednesday, June 14, during an event at the University's Nicosia campus. This is the fourth race car designed, built and tested at Frederick University's laboratories entirely by students of the University, under the supervision of Professor Antonis Lontos, a member of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Faculty. Professor Lontos referred to the significant effort made by the team. Prof. Lontos thanked Frederick University for its long-standing support and the team's sponsors "so that we can represent our University and our country in this very important competition in which universities from all over the world participate."

"This car symbolizes the ambitious vision of our students to push the boundaries and explore new horizons," said Frederick University President of the Council, ms Natassa Frederickou, noting that "this journey is not just about winning the competition. As per our University's motto: The journey to my success, the journey is more important than the destination. Success is In the invaluable lessons that students will learn during this journey - the lessons of resilience, adaptability and collaboration. The Formula Student competition provides a platform for them to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges, allowing them to grow as individuals and as future professionals." Ms Frederickou signed the University Formula and wished the team "Good Luck" on their participation in the competition.

On behalf of the FUF Racing Team, Dimitris Koutsoukis, a student in the University's Department of Mechanical Engineering and one of the team leaders, said: "We are looking forward to this great experience and challenge. We will do our best for the best possible result! We thank our University for supporting us and we expect to honour it accordingly."
