Stella Evangelidou studied Architecture at the University of Waterloo, in Canada. She has her own architectural practice since 1999 and is an adjunct faculty member at Frederick University since 2010. She is currently enrolled in a Master’s program for History and Theory of Arts. She has an HND Diploma in Building Technology and had won a scholarship for Interior Design from Pratt Institute, New York, in 1983. She attended courses in Cultural Criticism at the New York School of Social Research and in Fine Arts at the Ontario College of Art and at the New York School of Arts. She studied and worked in Toronto and New York for 12 years as an architect and as a set-design assistant at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Since her return to Cyprus in 1995, she has been distinguished with prizes in architectural competitions and she participated in art exhibitions with installations, photography and artist’s books. She has been the curator for architectural exhibitions and conferences and the editor for a publication on architectural competitions in Cyprus. She taught studio and theoretical courses in architecture at the University of Nicosia (2008-2010) and at the Frederick University (2010-today). Her field of research concerns multidisciplinary approaches with emphasis on the cultural landscape, the artistic and the socio-political. .
