University Status

Frederick University is fully recognized both within the Republic of Cyprus but also in Europe and internationally, offering its graduates qualifications with international merit and stature. The University functions a quality assurance committee to ensure that the level of education offered to its students is always of the highest level and globally respected.

Wide Range of Study Options

Frederick University is one of the largest private universities in Cyprus and offers a wide and diverse range of programs of study, many of which are available in Cyprus only at Frederick. It is worth stating that the University has programs of study in distinct disciplines allowing the student to meet his/her true needs, offering a total of 17 programs of study, organised in fifteen (13) Departments and six (6) Schools. In its effort to continuously expand the educational options of its student population, the University plans the introduction of several other innovative programs.

The university initially commences functioning with six schools:

FU considers research one of the foremost important activities, along teaching and learning.

The University's academic staff is involved in a wide range of research activities in various disciplines such as engineering, information technology, social sciences, finance and education. These research initiatives and activities place the University amongst the most successful organizations in Cyprus with respect to the level of financial support received for research projects from local (e.g. Research Promotion Foundation) and European Union sources. The University's contemporary research facilities play a vital role in the successful implementation of research projects and the education of its students.

Frederick University is closely linked with the Frederick Research Centre (FRC), which operates as a non-profit organization. One of the main objectives of the Research Centre is to provide the academic staff of the University with the necessary infrastructure to facilitate research activities. Through its multidimensional research and scientific activities, FRC has succeeded in establishing a wide collaboration network with international universities and research centres, as well as with private enterprises in Cyprus and abroad. The purpose of this collaboration is to advance scientific knowledge and facilitate the study and solution of real life problems.

The Frederick Research Centre encourages the involvement of FU students in research programmes, and facilitates the implementation of the students' final projects. Under the supervision of their academic advisors, students of Frederick University Cyprus actively participate in scientific research projects, gaining valuable research experience in the process.

In the past years, FRC and FU oversaw the implementation and on-going continuation of more than ninety research projects. A number of these projects receive external financial support from the European Union, and the Research Promotion Foundation of Cyprus. These projects were evaluated in a pool of proposals submitted by many eminent international research institutions and they succeeded in receiving funding in a very competitive environment.

Flexibility in Learning

Frederick University offers the choice of day and evening classes, full time and part time mode of study. It also offers Summer English Programmes and Foundation Programmes. This flexibility in teaching is designed to meet students learning requirements so as to maximize their potential in education.

Top Facilities

One of the University's main advantages is its impressive and extensive range of academic facilities. Both campuses feature well-stocked libraries and up-to-date, laboratory and studio facilities to support each and every program of study. Frederick University operates its own television station (FredTV) and a radio station (Radio Frederick). The improvement and updating of teaching and learning resources is a main principle of Frederick educational philosophy.
