| Learning Outcomes of the course unit | By the end of the course, the students should be able to:- They have developed their knowledge of health policy in order to be able to evaluate specific choices from a broader political, economic and social environment.
- Distinguish the main categories of health systems in the developed world.
- Identify common trends and common problems that health systems developed countries face.
- Analyze the social relations of power and authority and how impact in advancing reforms in the health system.
- Understand the complexity and the key components of the health system.
- They approach critically the key features of health systems, both from the perspective of the public and the free market.
- Understand and analyze the importance of the evaluation of health services.
- Describe the steps in the field of health and recognize national-international assessment tools.
- Know the technical methodology to develop an effective evaluation model to health services.
- Develop knowledge and skills in the design and implementation of specific assessment tools of health services.

Course Contents | - Knowledge of the ways in which culture, socio-economic background, behavior, health and illness are interconnected
- To help students understand the basic concepts of health and health services.
- To equip students with the ability of critical and interdisciplinary analysis of individual functions of health systems.
- An understanding of the main positions and perceptions about the role of modern health systems and the environment.
- Deepening procedures benchmarking individual health systems.
- Analysis of problems facing health systems, particularly the Greek National Health System Greek / Cyprus (Ge.S.Y.).
- Understanding the concepts of efficiency and effectiveness of health services and the corresponding indicators
- The development of appropriate knowledge and skills for the creation, development and management tools for evaluation of health services.
- Deepening joint assessment methodologies using innovative assessment tools at both national and international level.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods | The teaching of thetheoretical part includes lectures, case-studies, and work groups to betterunderstand the theoretical units regarding health systems and evaluation ofhealth systems, services and public health programs. A whiteboard, power point,pictures, case-studies and work groups are used to assist teaching, in order toachieve the better understanding and comprehension of theory. |
