Learning Outcomes of the course unitBy the end of the course, the students should be able to:
  1. Describe the proper use of studio production equipment common to most television studios including cameras, lighting, video switching, audio boards, and videos.
  2. Explain the interdependence of the roles of production staff and television equipment, and to practice the effective mixing of these elements in an actual TV production.
  3. Examine the essentials of successful Television production, and explore the effect various techniques have on the audience
  4. Evaluate the work of the television crew, and the processes involved in organising a TV production.
  5. Produce creative short TV programs from inception to finish through pre-production planning and hands-on production.

Introduction to the Television system and its many production elements

Production Overview: The Three Production Phases Program Proposals and Treatments

Camera Operation and control

Picture Composition: Framing effective shots and camera movements.

Studio Production: Roles and responsibilities of the crew. Lighting the set and sound pick up & control. Pre-production planning and rehearsals.

Live Interviews: In the field production.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The taught part of the course is delivered to the students by means of lectures, conducted with the help of live presentations within FRED TV.

During laboratory sessions at FRED TV, students develop functional techniques concerning tv productions and manage to produce and edit completed projects.
