| Learning Outcomes of the course unit | By the end of the course, the students should be able to:- Recognize the forms of globalization and the elements which constitute each one, distinguish their particularities and comprehend the relevance and correlation among each form in the manifestation of social consequences
- Considering the forms of globalization and the social consequences, determine what happens in Cyprus taking into account the particularities of the region.
- Discern the importance of cultural elements and recognize their importance in the different manifestations of multicultural globalized interaction.
- Distinguish forms of communication; comprehend their change over time and the factors affecting communication based on the approaches of post-modernity and globalization.
- Be knowledgeable of globalization elements which affect sectors influenced by financial activity and their importance for each country on the basis of market globalization.
- Work independently using theory, personal experience and data from observation and field research, and present the research results about Cyprus.
- Adapt theoretical approaches for dealing with the social consequences of globalization to the particularities of the areas they live and engage in, generating new ideas on intervention methods.

Course Contents | • Description of the various forms of globalization and their correlation (global-centric, traditional and transformational) based on the fundamental characteristics for the implementation of each form.
• Cultural elements and the different manifestations of multicultural globalized interaction.
• The operation of nations and nationalism in the context of closer inter-state relations and cooperations.
• Forms of financial systems and cooperations and their consequences on society at the local, national and international levels.
• Environmental problems and the significance of globalized production, exploitation, distribution and consumption activities on their manifestation
• Types of violence, manifestation modes, their negative contribution to human activity and the tools which have been developed to combat it through inter-state and international cooperations.
• The development of law as a result of globalization and its application based on the new global reality, and human rights.
• International relation theories and ways they are influenced by globalization. |
