Specific Admission Requirements

Candidates’ minimum qualifications for admittance to the program are:

  1. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University in Fine Art and other related fields. Due to the nature of the course that applies to international standards, exceptional cases would be considered for entrance. Applicants in these cases should demonstrate a high quality portfolio, including both practical and theoretical work, as well as relevant and outstanding experience in the visual arts and/or other fields within the area of cultural production.
  2. English is the official instruction language of the program. Candidates’ minimum qualifications for admittance to the program are:   Fluency in English. Candidates must hold knowledge of English language certificate such as GCE, TOEFL (70+), or IELTS (6+). This requirement can be waived for graduates of English speaking universities

It is likely that the number of candidates may be greater than the maximum number of students that can be admitted to the Program. In this case additional criteria for the selection of the students will be:

  1. Bachelor's Degree Overall and Upper-Class, Grade Point Average;
  2. professional experience;
  3. candidate’s involvement in courses and activities related to art research and practice;

Most importantly, eligible candidates will be selected and admitted to the Program, after a successful personal interview and portfolio presentation. The interviews will be conducted by an Evaluation Committee, formed by the Program Coordinator (chair of the committee) and two members of the Programme’s teaching staff.

Recognition of Prior Learning

The program recognises formal prior learning activities of students. Specifically, a student that has undertaken formal education at postgraduate level may in relevant fields, may have up to 30 ECTS credits recognised (amounting to one third of the program and 50% of the taught part).

At present, no non-formal or informal prior learning recognition is applicable for the program. It is noted that the University is evaluating a relevant regulation for non-formal and informal learning and the Department will re-evaluate its current position once the said regulation is in place.
