Ο Βύρων Ιωάννου σπούδασε Αρχιτεκτονική (Διπλ. Μηχ.) και Πολεοδομία – Χωροταξία (MSc, PhD) στο Εθνικό Μετσόβιο Πολυτεχνείο. Κατέχει επίσης μεταπτυχιακό τίτλο στο Πολεοδομικό Δίκαιο από το Πανεπιστήμιο Leeds Beckett. Διδάσκει σε προπτυχιακά και μεταπτυχιακά μαθήματα της Πολυτεχνικής Σχολής και ειδικότερα μαθήματα Πολεοδομίας και Αρχιτεκτονικής Σύνθεσης στο ενιαίο πενταετές πρόγραμμα Master του Τμήματος Αρχιτεκτόνων Μηχανικών, μαθήματα Αειφόρου Δομημένου Περιβάλλοντος στο MSc στην Ενεργειακή Μηχανική καθώς και στο Διδακτορικό Πρόγραμμα Αρχιτεκτονικής. Τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα εστιάζονται στον περιβαλλοντικό αστικό και χωρικό σχεδιασμό, στις πολεοδομικές πολιτικές, στα χωρικά σχέδια για το κλίμα και την κοινωνική ανθεκτικότητα, στη βιώσιμη κινητικότητα και τις πόλεις των 15 λεπτών.

Byron Ioannou studied Architecture (Dip. Eng.) and Urban and Regional Planning (MSc, PhD) at the National Technical University of Athens. He also holds an postgraduate degree in Planning Law from Leeds Beckett University. He teaches in undergraduate and postgraduate courses of the School of Engineering and in particular Urban Planning and Architectural Design courses in the integrated five-year master’s program of the Department of Architecture, Sustainable Built Environment courses in the MSc in Energy Engineering as well as in the PhD Program in Architecture. His research interests focus on environmental urban design and spatial planning, urban policies, climate and social resilience spatial plans, sustainable mobility and 15-minute cities.
