APX522 Design Methodology

The course aims to take the student through the design methodology necessary to complete the diploma design project. The various parts of the initial aim, analysis ( typology and site)  the main concept,  the materialization of the design of the main concept are pointed out, followed through, supervised, and improved during the semester  in order to enrich the potential of the analysis, and presentation techniques of the student’s drawing diploma work, as well as improve the way he describes his main ideas, sequence of thought process and composition in oral and drawing presentation. Through examples presented, the class will aim to show the variety of techniques possible for each of the three studio directions and to maximize the work’s potential.

APX521 Research Project

The course aims to finalize, improve and enrich the analysis, and presentation techniques of the student’s written and presented research diploma work, as well as improve the way he describes his composition orally. The final product is in book form but the research has to be transferred to an oral and visual presentation which will include analysis of examples and the process of the work. Through a set of rules that apply to any scientific work and examples presented, from the professor to the class and from the class to the professor, the aim is to maximise the work’s potential for the student of each of the three studio directions.

APX501 Diploma Project I ( Studio I: Building Design – Studio II : Architecture in the Urban Context – Studio III : Architectural Technology )

This studio constitutes the first completed architectural experience of composition, deepening and experimentation of this program of study. While the strategy of program forecasts in this half-year period the beginning of the orientation of students in certain forms of accent and specialisation, the program proposes for this studio to be developed on three parallel and independent thematic axes. Each one of them aspires in the same training results but through different issues and different nature problems of confrontation. The objective of this studio is also to develop two directions of the planning at the same time in reasonable approach: the first one concerns the experimentation and the deepening in special subjects of planning and the second one the growth of designing experiences that will be useful infrastructure in the level of professional practice. The first one concerns the preparation of profile of researcher that it experiments through architectural and the second one a profile of dynamic professional that aspires it impresses a new stain in the architectural practice.

APX502 Diploma Project II ( Studio I: Building Design – Studio II : Architecture in the Urban Context – Studio III : Architectural Technology )

This course does not have the character Studio but is included in this category because his object is the architectural planning. His raison d'être is to support the development of diplomatic work of students and the follow-up of her development from the instructive personnel of Department. With this course program seeks it creates a environment in which the students that work out the diplomatic work have the possibility of exchanging experiences and from their her work and of having the guidance of instructive potential. With this way is maintained the cohesion of team to profit of collectiveness and her positive consequences in the quality of work. The number of instructive units that are given by this laboratory is reported in the diplomatic work.

APX431 Architectural Technology VI

The findings of the constructural analysis of a historical building are used to identify the causes of its deterioration and damages and implement immediate measures for protection. The course deals also with the distinction of the construction phases of a historical structure, the methods and the necessity of monitoring actions and the design guidelines of an appropriate restoration proposal.
