Dr. Anna Merry has been a member of the Arts and Communication Department of Frederick University since 2009. She teaches topics related to Interior Design, Lighting Design and Research Methodology. Anna has guided her students through various competitions and collaborations within the design industry. Furthermore, Anna is a supervisor and part of the committee for the PhD programme in Arts and Design Practices. Anna received her BA in Interior Design from Frederick University and later completed her MA in Design Innovation at De Montfort University Leicester. Most recently Anna attained her postgraduate academic degree (PhD) from De Montfort University Leicester entitled: “An Investigation into Playful Interactive Experiences within Public Space”. Her continuing research interests surround Interior Design, Design Innovation, Urban Studies and User Experience where she actively incorporates her research within her teaching methodology. During her time at Frederick University Anna has published her research within international design journals as well as participating in several international design conferences. Additionally, Anna has collaborated in design workshops and scientific research within the framework of the Green Urban Lab project which was made possible through funding from the EEA Grants/Norway Grants. Anna is an external collaborator of Urban Gorillas NGO, who are based in Nicosia, Cyprus. Acting as a technical advisor on playful design, Anna has a continuing design and research relationship with the group across various urban design projects. Currently, Anna is running an internally funded research project entitled ‘Re-mapping Public Space: Investigating Social and Spatial Interactions in Cyprus Post Covid-19.’
