Costakis Constantinou is an Associate Professor in Political and Social Sciences in the Department of Psychology and Social Sciences of Frederick University in Cyprus since 2018. From 1995 until 2018 he was a faculty member of the School of Art, Communication and Mass Media in the Department of Journalism, Communication and Mass Media where he was appointed Vice Dean, President as well as Vice-President of the Department of Journalism, Communication and Mass Media Communications. He is currently the coordinator of the Programme of Journalism and Mass Media. He is the Secretary and a member of the Scientific Council of Promytheas Research Center since 2012.

He holds a Ph.D in Social Sciences (Political Science) from the University of Sofia “St. Clement Ochritski and the Academic Sciences of Bulgaria. He graduates with honours from the Academy of Social Sciences and Social Management in Sofia, Bulgaria and holds a BA and MA in Philosophy. His research interests include Globalisation, the European Union and Cyprus, the Cyprus Problem, Mass Communicaion, Journalism and Education. Dr. Constantinou participates in research programs funded by the European Union and other institutions. He has published the books titled “Wind of Freedom” (2005), “Viento de Libertad- Un analisis de la sosiedad cubana”(2008), “The Cyprus News Agency – History, structure, functions and its role in Cyprus and Globally” (2013). He has published scientific articles and analyses. He has participated in more than forty scientific and professional conferences on Political Sciences and Mass Communication. He served as the president of the Board of Management of the Cyprus News Agency from 2006 until 2011. He served as a member of the Three Member Academic board of the Post Graduate Programme of Open University Cyprus in the period 2015-2018.
