Dr. Orestis Antoniades achieved his PhD Degree from the Democritus University of Thrace (June 2016); his MSc Degree on Clinical Exercise Physiology from the Democritus University of Thrace (July 2011) and his BSc Degree from the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2009). He was member of the National Men's Team of Cyprus in discus throwing from 2002 until 2014. Nowadays, he is employed as part-time in the Department of Sport Science of the European University of Cyprus and as external collaborator in University of Cyprus. The basic structure of his doctoral and postgraduate research referred into the MetS risk factors in overweight / obese children aged 9-14 years as well as the acute and long term physiological adaptations of aerobic exercise on metabolism and cardiovascular function in overweight / obese pre-pubertal children. Dr. Antoniades has been involved in research activities as collaborated investigator in three EU funded projects. He is Member of the European Society of Sports Sciences (ECSS), the Greek Medical Association for Obesity (E.I.E.P.), the Pan-European Study of Obesity (IASO), the Greek Institute of Cardiology (ELIKAR), the Greek Society, Exercise and Rehabilitation (EL.E.ERG.A), the Greek Society of Biochemistry and Physiology of Exercise (E.E.V.F.A.), the Association of Physical Northern Greece (E.G.V.E.) and the Pancyprian Association of Graduates of Physical Education and Sport Science (PA.SY.P.E.F.A.A.). He was invited speaker in various schools in Primary and Secondary Education focuses on topics concerning the children obesity, risk factor of CVD and the role of exercise in weight management and quality of life. He has participated in more than >50 International Scientific Congresses. He has 4 publications in peer review journals, 11 publications in International Congresses Proceedings and 48 oral or poster presentations in International Congresses on Physical Education and Sports Sciences while in five of them was taken the 1rst prize as the best poster scientific paper.
