Events and Announcements
The Department of Business Administration regularly organizes seminars with academic as well as industry leaders. The seminars are announced in Frederick’s main webpage and at the Department’s Facebook page. Past seminars included topics of interest in finance such as “Lessons from the recent financial market crisis” by former head of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission Dr. Marios Klerides and a seminar on the Basel Risk Management Practices in collaboration with KPMG.
Faculty of the Department have also organized marketing and communications workshops for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) such as the Girl Guides Association of Cyprus (providing workshops, trainings and consultation) and the Cyprus Family Planning Association (consultation and research projects).
The department has also organized and run workshops for unemployed on marketing planning design and contemporary marketing issues and organized a series of advertising literacy and advertising/marketing education sessions and workshops with focus on primary school children. Marketing faculty of the Department has organized and run workshops for soldiers on marketing and marketing communications.
In the area of management, faculty of the Department has organized an international conference on Economics and Management of Networks, in December 2011 which welcomed 100 participants from 24 countries to Cyprus. The conference published an edited volume with Springer and a special issue in Managerial and Decision Economics (Wiley).
The Department is actively participating in providing secondary school presentations aiming in introducing high school students in academia and research. Specifically, the Department offers the following seminars since Fall of 2019:
- “A Board of Director member's business management experience on the operations of a semi-governmental organization (CyBC)”
- “Investments in the stock market: Lessons from finance theory”
- “Learning marketing though a marketing game”
Finally, students regularly participate in workshops and seminars. A team of students has successfully participated in a project for the Development of an Entrepreneurial Mindset in Higher Education. A team of students regularly participates on the annual CFA Investment Research competition.
