Dr. Emilios Charalambides is a Assistant Professor of Political Science at Frederick University. He joined the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in 2005. He has been a Lecturer of Creative Drama at the School of Education (Preprimary and Lower Primary Teacher Education) at the Frederick Institute of Technology (from 2001 until 2008). He received the academic degree Magister der Philosophie (1997) at the University of Vienna, Austria in Political Science combined with Theatre Studies and Philosophy and later on he received the academic title Doktor der Philosophie (2000) at the same University in Political Science and Theatre Studies. He has also received a scholarship from the Fulbright Commission Cyprus (Short Term Training Cyprus – America Scholarship Program, 2006) on Educational Theatre at the Steinhard Department of Education, New York University. He worked as a producer at the Television News Agency of the European Commission (Europe by Satellite), General Direction X (Information, Communication, Culture and Audiovisual Media) at the European Union, Brussels (1998). He has produced, translated and directed several plays for the theatre. He taught Dramatology at the Vladimiros Kafkarides Drama School (2002 – 2013). He participated at various international Conferences with articles concerning political theatre, dramaturgical and cultural analysis and education. He is a member of the Artistic Committee of the Theater Organisation of Cyprus for the period 2013 – 2015. His research interests are Political Theatre in Cyprus, Culture and Politics, Cultural Analysis, Drama in Education, Political Education through Drama.
