In light of the recent developments in Cyprus and the wider region, Frederick University wishes to assure its students and wider community that it is closely monitoring the situation and remains in continuous communication with the relevant state authorities and the University’s Health and Safety Office, with the absolute priority being the safety of our community.

University educational activities in both Nicosia and Limassol continue as normal. Classes are being conducted according to the scheduled timetable.

Understanding the justified concern that the current situation may cause, the University is introducing specific arrangements for the current week (02/03/26 – 06/03/26).

In particular:
• With regard to theoretical courses, absences will not be recorded for students who choose not to attend on campus.
• Obligations related to laboratory courses and clinical/practical training remain in effect, as they constitute an integral part of the educational process.
• In case of absence from mandatory activities, you are requested to contact your Department immediately in order to arrange for the make-up of coursework or practical requirements.

The University remains on alert and will inform you promptly of any new decisions should circumstances change.

Universities across Cyprus continue to operate normally and without disruption, notes the Cyprus Universities Rectors' Conference in an official statement issued on March 10, 2026, ensuring that all activities are proceeding in a safe environment.

Below is the full statement:

The Cyprus Universities of Rectors’ Conference fully understands the concerns expressed by members of the student community and their families. In this context, we would like to reassure students, parents, and partners that universities across Cyprus continue to operate normally and without disruption.

Teaching, research, and all academic and student activities are proceeding as scheduled and in a safe environment.

The health and safety of students and staff remain the highest priority for all universities in Cyprus. Institutions are providing preventive guidance and updates to their university communities to ensure preparedness for any potential developments, taking into account the geopolitical instability in the wider region.

At present, university life continues smoothly and there is no indication that alternative forms of teaching are required. In-person teaching therefore continues as planned, as it remains a core element of the educational experience, fostering interaction, collaboration, and active participation.

Universities in Cyprus have successfully managed challenging situations in the past, including during the COVID-19 pandemic. Should circumstances require it – which is not currently the case – institutions stand ready to take the necessary measures to ensure the uninterrupted continuation of their academic mission.

With confidence in the national institutions and a strong sense of responsibility, the universities of Cyprus remain committed to serving their community. We closely monitor developments and provide updates whenever necessary, always placing the safety and well-being of our students and staff at the centre of their mission.
