Aris Constantinou was born in Limassol in 1976. He is a graduate of Higher Technical Institute in Nicosia, nominated with the Higher National Diploma in Marine Engineering. He then served his Military Service for the Cyprus Navy in the ranks of Engine Officer on coastal patrol boats safeguarding the maritime borders of the Republic. He then moved to the United States of America where he studied Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture at the University of New Orleans, Louisiana obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree with double major title of a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer. Upon his return on the island, he served the private maritime sector in Limassol in various positions mainly in the Technical Departments of esteemed Ship Management/Owner Companies for 10 years, namely Columbia, V-Ships and Maestro Ship Management. He then accepted the position of Marine Surveyor in Shipping Deputy Ministry where he is loyally serving since 2009 up until today. His main duties involve rigorous Port State Control Inspections of Foreign Flag Ships visiting ports of Cyprus, inspection of Cyprus Flag Ships on a worldwide basis maintaining the high quality and progress of the Cyprus Flag, and maritime security inspections and certification of Port Facilities of the Republic of Cyprus. He is nominated as the Focal Point of Cyprus in the European Commission on Maritime Security Matters, representing the country is various meetings and fora. He also holds a Master of Science post graduate degree with specialization in International Trade and Shipping Management from Frederick University where he is currently serving there as a part-time lecturer in the Maritime Studies Department of the University offering his knowledge, experience, and expertise whenever needed. Aris Constantinou is appointed as a representative of the Shipping Deputy Ministry in the “Cyprus Center for Land Open Seas and Port Security” Academy in Larnaca also known as CYCLOPS actively participating in providing training to various national and international bodies. Cyclops Academy was a project established by a Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Cyprus and the United States and operated under the auspices of MFA, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is also lately nominated by the Shipping Deputy Ministry as a National Expert on Maritime Security Matters actively participating in meetings and workshops in the Maritime Security European Committee in Brussels, the Paris MoU Secretariat, and the European Maritime Safety Agency in Lisbon among other
