Short CV
Mr. Xenakis Vouvakos obtained a Diploma in Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering from the University Patras in 2010 and an MSc degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Cyprus in 2014. From 2014 till present is a PhD candidate at National Technical University of Athens in the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Division of Marine Engineering. Mr. Vouvakos is a special teaching staff at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Frederick University since 2018. From 2020, Mr. Vouvakos is a coordinator of the program of study Automotive Technician at Frederick Institute of Technology in Limassol. Mr. Vouvakos teaches undergraduate courses in the School of Engineering of Frederick University, specifically in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Further, Mr. Vouvakos teaches several courses in the Frederick Institute of Technology, specifically in the program of study of Automotive Technician. Mr. Vouvakos research interests include the development and validation of fuel spray breakup models, for computational studies of air-fuel mixing strategies (split fuel injection), with the goal of optimizing engine performance and exhaust polluntant emissions (nitric oxides and soot particles) of marine and automotive Diesel engines. This includes detailed grid generation for realistic full-cycle simulations of marine and automotive engines, including port and valve geometries, as well as development of thermodynamic models and their coupling with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) codes.
