Dr. Nicolas Droushiotis obtained MEng in Chemical Engineering specialized in Petroleum Catalysis and MSc in Biotechnology in the area of designing aerobic/anaerobic digesters for generating products of added-value. He holds PhD in ElectroChemical Engineering from Imperial College London on the fabrication and characterization of high temperature electrochemical reactors for producing energy using gaseous fuels. His PhD work was awarded the Townend Prize for "outstanding original research or critical analysis in any area of combustion or fuel production and/or utilization". He has published many technical and academic articles (over thirty) and holds two patent applications. He worked for Cyprus Petroleum Refinery as site-Engineer and as Project Leader at Shell Global Solutions supporting projects and sites in Europe and USA. In 2014 he received Shell Recognition Award for his contribution in innovative projects and during the same year he was recognized by the Dutch Memory Magazine to be among the top 100 young professionals working in The Netherlands. With over ten years’ of industrial experience his roles cover areas such as Process Engineering, Petroleum Technologist, Project Management including Commercial activities. Since 2015 he has been employed by Cyprus Hydrocarbons Company for the development of the offshore hydrocarbon discoveries in the Eastern Mediterranean. Dr. Droushiotis teaches as a visiting lecturer in undergraduate and postgraduate programs of studies in the School of Engineering and particularly in the Mechanical Engineering Department of Frederick University.
