Short CV
Dr. Antonis Papadakis has graduated from Cambridge University, UK with a PhD on a full time 4-year scholarship from the Department of Engineering, Trinity College in 2004. Thereafter, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the European Laboratory for Particle Physics (CERN) for 3 years on the discovery of the Higgs particle, that was awarded the Novel Prize in 2014. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at Frederick University Cyprus, Department of Electrical Engineering and a Senior Researcher at Frederick Research Center. He is also the Director of the KYA (http://kya.frederick.ac.cy), Coordinator of the MSc in Oil & Gas and Offshore Engineering program and former Vice-Chairman of the Department of Electrical Engineering. He has solid expertise in the field of numerical and experimental modeling. His main publications focus: (a) on numerical modeling of plasma physics and general mass and charge transport related processes, (b) solar cell modeling, and (c) electromagnetic field measurements both of numerical and experimental type. He has conducted innovative research in the field of plasmas and electromagnetics and published his work in world class journals. Three of his papers (two from the Institute of Physics and one from Elsevier) have received honorary mention from the journals. He has supervised a total of 40 final year projects and 10 MSc theses mostly related to solar photovoltaics both at cell and module level and has published a number of international conference publications related to photovoltaics. He is currently supervising 1 PhD student. He is an author in 54 peer-reviewed journal publications and 36 international conference publications. He has also acted as Chairman in 2018 and Co-Chairman in 2014 of DEMSEE International conference. He is a reviewer in 14 international journal publications in the field of plasmas, electromagnetics, renewables and high-performance computing. He has conducted extensive studies in modelling of inorganic solar cells and has published a number of scientific publications in international conferences in the area of photovoltaic solar cells covering mainly modeling aspects, as well as experimental aspects. In the past, he has coordinated 2 Cyprus RPF projects, one as Project Coordinator and one as Scientific Coordinator. He acted as Coordinator of a Horizon 2020 project on behalf of Frederick University-CSRC for the creation of a Science Center in Cyprus. He has recently acquired funding through the European Space Agency to conduct high-performance computing simulations in astrophysics for the discovery of new planets and stars. He has more than 26,931 google scholar citations with an h-index of 31.
