Ομότιμος καθηγητής πανεπιστημίου. Διδάσκει «Χημεία Βιοδραστικών Φυσικών Ενώσεων», «Φαρμακογνωσία» και «Φαρμακοκινητική» στο Τμήμα Φαρμακευτικής του Frederick University Cyprus. Σπούδασε Φαρμακευτική στο Εθνικό και Καποδιστριακό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών (1976). Από το 1977- 1981 εκπόνησε την πρώτη διδακτορική του διατριβή στα εργαστήρια Βιολογικής Χημείας και Θεραπευτικής κλινικής της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Παν. Αθηνών, ενώ το 1986 με υποτροφία του ΙΚΥ ολοκλήρωσε το δεύτερο διδακτορικό του (Ph.D), στο Πανεπιστήμο του Manchester, Αγγλία. Στο διάστημα 1984-86, δίδαξε Φαρμακογνωσία ως tutor στο Παν. του Manchester. Στα διαστήματα 1992-93 και 1994-95, εργάστηκε, ως ερευνητής-επισκέπτης καθηγητής στις Φαρμακευτικές Σχολές των Πανεπιστημίων Panama και Salamanca (Ισπανία). Από το 1989-2003 εργάσθηκε στη Μονάδα Παρεντερικής Διατροφής και Φαρμακοκινητικής του Νοσ. Παίδων ‘Αγία Σοφία’ στην Αθήνα, με τον βαθμό Δ/ντή του ΕΣΥ. Στο διάστημα 2003-2006, διετέλεσε Δ/ντής του Φαρμακευτικού Τμήματος στο Γεν. Νοσ. Πειραιά «Τζάνειο». Από το 2007-2017 διετέλεσε καθηγητής Κλινικής Βιοχημείας σε δημόσιο ελληνικό ΑΕΙ. Εχει δημοσιεύσει άνω των 80 πρωτότυπων εργασιών και ανασκοπήσεων σε διεθνή περιοδικά με κριτές και έχει παρουσιάσει άνω των 150 ανακοινώσεων-ομιλιών σε συνέδρια εσωτερικού-εξωτερικού, με περισσότερες από 1270 διεθνείς αναφορές (h-index:20). Εργασίες του έχουν βραβευτεί σε Συνέδρια. Είναι κριτής 15 επιστημονικών περιοδικών του εξωτερικού, όπως: Metabolism, European Journal of Clinical Investigation, Pharmaceutical Biology, Journal of Pharmacognosy, Int. Journal of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Journal of Medical Laboratory and Diagnosis, Journal of Cancer Research and Experimental Oncology, Protein Journal, Investigational New Drugs, Recent Patents on Anticancer Drug Discovery, Journal of BUON. Εχει συγγράψει βιβλία και σημειώσεις και έχει καθοδηγήσει άνω των 50 διπλωματικών-μεταπτυχιακών εργασιών. Είναι αρχισυντάκτης του περιοδικού «Φαρμακευτική» και μέλος των Συντακτικών Επιτροπών των διεθνών περιοδικών “Journal of Balkan Oncology” και “Clinical Reviews and Opinions”. Είναι μέλος πολλών επιστημονικών εταιρειών ανάμεσά τους: New York Academy of Sciences, Phytochemical Society of Europe, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Hellenic Biochemical Biophysical Society, European Society of Clinical Pharmacists,, Ελληνική Εταιρεία Κλινικής Χημείας-Κλινικής Βιοχημείας, Εταιρία Medicinal Chemistry. Γνωρίζει άριστα την Αγγλική και Ισπανική γλώσσα.

University emeritus professor. He is teaching “Chemistry of Bioactive Natural Compounds”, “Pharmacognosy” and “Pharmacokinetics” at Frederick University, Cyprus. He obtained his first degree in Pharmacy, from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece (1976) He received his first Doctorate from the University of Athens (1981), and his second Ph.D from Manchester University, U.K (1986). Along with his professional activities, he has taught as visiting professor, Pharmacognosy, Biochemistry and Chemistry of natural products, in various universities in England (Manchester), Spain (Salamanca), Panama, and Greece (Athens). He also worked as investigator at the Therapeutic Clinic, Medical School, University of Athens (1977-1981), and as a Director under the National Health System in Children’s Hospital “Aghia Sophia” in Athens at the Parenteral Nutrition and Pharmacokinetics Unit and in the General Hospital “Tzaneio” in Piraeus, Greece (1989-2006). From 2007-2017 was a university professor in Clinical Biochemistry, in Greece. He has published over 80 original research papers, chapters, reviews and monographies in international peer journals, along with more than 150 papers-posters presented in several Congresses around the world. He has also edited six books for students. His research papers have gained so far more than 1270 citations (h-index: 20) and several scholarships and awards. He is a co-editor of the scientific journal “Pharmakeftiki” and as editorial board member in “Journal of Balkan Oncology” and “Clinical Reviews and Opinions”. He is a regular referee in a number of international scientific journals such as: Metabolism, European Journal of Clinical Investigation, Pharmaceutical Biology, Journal of Pharmacognosy, International Journal of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Journal of Medical Laboratory and Diagnosis, Journal of Cancer Research and Experimental Oncology, The Protein Journal, Investigational New Drugs, Recent Patents on Anticancer Drug Discovery, Journal of BUON etc. He is a member of several scientific societies as: New York Academy of Sciences, Phytochemical Society of Europe, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Balkan Union of Oncology, Hellenic Biochemical Biophysical Society, European Society of Clinical Pharmacists, Hellenic Society of Clinical Chemistry-Clinical Biochemistry, etc. He fluently speaks English and Spanish.
