Description of the main research interests and activities of the team/lab:
The Public Sphere and dynamics of Media forms the Cypriot historical experience team is made up of people teaching in the Journalism Department of Frederick University. The Team’s research/analysis is geared towards documenting and analysing the development of the Public Sphere in Cyprus. The analysis explores the forms of discourse of rhetoric and the reasons that emerged, how certain forms of discourse and rhetorical frameworks became hegemonic, how that hegemony changed, and how alternative forms of interpretations and discourse emerged, developed, sustained and diffused themselves in alternative publics. The conflicts and alternative interpretations are linked to the dynamics of different media forms and their development.
