Description of the main research interests and activities of the team/lab:

The Maritime Studies Research Group covers both the scientific and the professional side of the shipping industry. Team members maintain extensive practical experience in the active seaborne life and its operation, as well as in regards to the academic environment. The capacity of the team is well justified through a number of papers, presentations, speeches and lectures concerning maritime and international trade issues. The research topics that the team members deal with are all aspects of the industry such as:

  • the economic development and analysis (micro and macro level)
  • the environment
  • the maritime cluster
  • the institutional framework and
  • the managerial aspects of the shipping industry.

Main targets of the research team are the cooperation and the exchange of knowledge and experience with the academic and maritime business community, the elaboration of active scientific and applied projects as well as the active involvement of the students.
