Learning Outcomes of the course unitBy the end of the course, the students should be able to:
  1. Identify the principles of the oral speech, the difference between thoracic and diaphragmatic breathing, and the rules of public speech.
  2. Explain the importance of voice and diction for the journalistic profession.
  3. Apply the clear accent of the Modern Greek language, as well as the voice control and prepare themselves for correct reading in public.
  4. Analyse and read a text while using the rules of orthophony.
  5. Evaluate television and radio broadcast news and then they should record, listen and evaluate their own efforts. They should learn to use their voice correctly while they read the news.
  6. 6. Perform news presentation, report voice over and literature reading.

Course Contents

Rules of having and keeping a good voice. Preconditions for a good voice: correct body positioning and calm breathing.

Thoracic and diaphragmatic breathing. Breathing exercises. Exercises for the articulation organs muscles.

Creating the vowels of the Greek alphabet. Creating the consonants of the Greek alphabet.

Correct reading: pauses (fool stop, comma, question mark, etc.)  Intonation, correct punctuation, rhythm.
