Learning Outcomes of the course unitBy the end of the course, the students should be able to:
  1. Describe the characteristics and the steps of a radio production (journalistically and technically).
  2. Analyze the structure and function of a radio studio.
  3. Operate a console as well as the analogical and digital radio devices.
  4. Organize a radio production, utilizing various radio techniques and devices.
  5. Produce live and recorded radio programs.

Course Contents

Characteristics of radio: Radio characteristics: advantages and disadvantages

Radio News: Categories and sources of news. Basic principles of collecting and writing news for radio. The structure of radio news-writing.

Canons of a radio program presentation: Speech articulation: pitch, volume, speed, rhythm.

Radio Programs: Structure and planning of a program. Radio-direction. Types of radio programs: informative, entertainment and educational. Programs with quests in the studio. Programs with live linking.

The Radio Station: The structure and the devices of a radio station. The staff. Radio techniques and sound transmission.

Production of a radio program: Utilization of a console. Other analogical and digital devices.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

This course is delivered to the students by means of lectures. Lectures are supplemented with radio practice in order for the students to familiarize with the production and delivery of radio programs
