Course Contents | Introduction to Quark Xpress basics: Familiriase the students with the environment of the software and its basic tools and functions. Perform exercises on the layout design of a daily newspaper: The students are asked to design basic page layouts having as examples real daily newspapers. Work on a collaborative project: The students collaborate in order to design a group daily newspaper. Perform exercises on the layout design of a political newspaper: The students are asked to design page layouts having as examples real political newspapers. The aim of the exercises is to understand the differences between page layout design of a daily and a political newspaper. Work on a collaborative project: The students collaborate in order to design a group political newspaper. Perform exercises on the layout design of a lifestyle newspaper: The students are asked to design page layouts having as examples real political newspapers. The aim of the exercises is to understand the differences between page layout design of a daily, a political and a lifestyle newspaper. Work on a collaborative project: The students collaborate in order to design a group lifestyle newspaper. Work on an individual (final) project: The students work individually in order to design a newspaper choosing a style/theme of their choice. | ||||||||||

Planned learning activities and teaching methods | During laboratory sessions, students learn how to use the software QuarkXpress in order to design newspaper layouts suitable for publishing their articles. Students are asked to implement exercises during the laboratory sessions and work on collaborative and individual projects. | ||||||||||
