| Learning Outcomes of the course unit | By the end of the course, the students should be able to:- Explain the content of the lesson: Introduction to the Middle East, peace keeping procedure in the Middle East, Jerusalem, Zionism – Arabic nationalism, Jihad, Ottoman empire – Turkish Republic. The relations of the Arabic world with Turkey, Greece and Cyprus.
- Apply the basic principles for analysing and presenting political issues.
- Analyse the political development in the area of the eastern Mediterranean in the 20th century.
- Evaluate the procedures and contradictions of modernisation of the Arabic world, the role of Israel, Cyprus, Greece and Turkey in the specific area, and the relations of the area with the western world in the context of the international system.
- Create and present articles and reports on the specific subject.
