Course Contents | The Middle Phase: stages and objectives. Assessment: definition, skills and principles. Judgment. Stages of assessment. Guide for comprehensive assessment. Planning: goals vs. objectives, SMART, strategy, negotiating goals and contracting with service users. Factors affecting a plan of action. Intervention: direct and indirect types of intervention. Providing support and advice. Enabling users. Referral. Advocate and Broker roles. Environmental change. The Final Phase: stages and objectives.
Evaluation: practice evaluation, client evaluation, program evaluation. Qualitative vs. Quantitative Evaluation. Process vs. Outcome Evaluation, Formative vs. Summative Evaluation. Evaluation designs: Single Subject Design, Goal Attainment Scales and others. Termination: planned vs. unplanned termination. Clients and social workers’ responses to termination. Stages of termination. Components of Termination. Preparation for termination. Objectives. The last interview. Follow up.
Case Recording: Process recording, case histories, progress notes, intervention plan, contract, evaluation of services and other useful tools.
Class presentations: students will present in class a case (real or fictional) and will apply the skills taught in both ASCW203 and ASCW 213.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods | The taught part of course is delivered to the students by means of lectures, conducted with the help of computer presentations. Lecture notes and presentations are available through the web for students to use in combination with the textbooks. Classroom activities include group discussion, case studies analysis, role plays and student presentations. | ||||||||
