Learning Outcomes of the course unitBy the end of the course, the students should be able to:
  1. Explain that Child Protection Policy is now oriented within the framework of the Declaration of the Child’s Rights.
  2. Describe and analyse the 54 articles of the Declaration under the three Principles: Protection, Provision, Participation.
  3. Recognize the importance of the family in the child’s life and take all the appropriate measures so that, at first place, the child would remain in his family.
  4. Recognize that in case that the family is proved to be unable to take care of the child, it has to be chosen one of the alternative solutions: day care, or foster care, or residential care or adoption.
  5. Recognize the child’s traumatic feelings because of his separation from his parents.
  6. Describe and evaluate the characteristics of foster care, residential care and adoption, as well as the methods and skills of the social worker in handling the child, his parents, and the foster parents.

Course Contents•    Child Protection Policy is now oriented within the framework of the Declaration of the Child’s Rights.
•    Analysis of the 54 articles of the Declaration under the three Principles: Protection, Provision, Participation.
•    Recognition of the importance of the family in the child’s life so that, at first place, the child would remain in his family.
