Learning Outcomes of the course unitBy the end of the course, the students should be able to:
  1. Distinguish between the fundamental theories of social planning (systemic, holistic and eclectic approaches) and comprehend the principal characteristics of the way each theory is applied.
  2. Recognize the stages and the requirements for collecting the necessary data, their analysis and necessary planning for their completion, based on the various intervention theories/approaches.
  3. Conduct research to ascertain needs or problems regarding the particularities of the area and the target group.
  4. Utilize the dynamics and the organization of resources and implement an intervention plan using suitable techniques.
  5. Use suitable tools and techniques for time and budget planning.
  6. Collect, analyse and engage in the required actions in order to evaluate the outcomes of the intervention plan.

• Semantic and conceptual approach and equivalent terms of social planning.
• Theoretical approaches, methods and techniques of social planning.
• Methods of organizing the planning, collection of data, their analysis and evaluation.
• Procedures for feasibility studies and submission of proposals.
• The role of the social worker and other professionals in the inter-scientific team of social planning.
• Preparation of an individual paper on social planning based on the experience acquired during field practice.
• Evaluation and feedback stages.
