Learning Outcomes of the course unitBy the end of the course, the students should be able to:
  1. Understand the major strategies of social intervention on matters related to the creation of social enterprises
  2. Design the roles of interested individuals, parties and systems in the process of establishing social cooperatives
  3. Identify individuals with the suitable psychosocial skills and knowledge needed for the creation and development of a social enterprise
  4. Evaluate the suitability of plans and methods for the development and materialisation of the main functions of success of social enterprises
  5. Create groups and networks of social care that support and stimulate the creation and operation of skills related ton women entrepreneurship
  6. Design training programs aiming to understand the operation of small enterprises that offer social benefits to individuals and communities
  7. Create and implement business plans aiming at establishing, operating and developing virtual business activities
  8. Evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of a social enterprise model
  9. Materialise actions, programs and services that support the development of entrepreneurship spirit among young people
  10. Understand the prospects of social economy and social entrepreneurship
  11. Evaluate the effectiveness and operation of social enterprises and their contribution to society

Course Contents - Innovations within the context of social entrepreneurship, ideas, opportunities and analysis of good practices in European countries
- The social economy in the European countries, traditional institutions and the develop of social enterprises
- The development and establishment of the philosophy and good practices that lead to the creation of productive social enterprises
- Systematic evaluation of the success factors leading to the creation of business plans for a social enterprise 
- Different models of social enterprises, like cooperatives or non-profit making – organisations
- Creating a business plan, the preparation stage, commencement, operation, development and methods of achieving business goals
- The nature of small enterprises and stages of adopting and managing innovations  
- Development and aspects of operation of the model of social enterprises and social franchising
- Activities reinforcing entrepreneurship among young people and women in contemporary social enterprises
- The development of social control  systems and evaluation of the effectiveness of social enterprises in society
- Social sensitisation of: changes at the personal level of behaviour, saving money and finance, professional behaviour
- Future prospects: reinforcing the potential of the social economy and entrepreneurship - major challenges
- Public policies and future prospects related to the social economy and social enterprises

Planned learning activities and teaching methods The major teaching methods to be implemented are the following: a) Direct dialogue: the lecturer, by using carefully selected and formulated questions, leads students towards a specific topic of knowledge. b). Brainstorming: the topic to be studied is presented to students and then they are requested to express freely their ideas and thoughts related to the specific topic. c). Group work: students are divided in groups, with the aim to exchange ideas and experiences related to a specific subject that they are studying. d). Role play: the scenario related to situations, at the professional or social level is presented to students. Students play roles, like actors, which aim to understand better the situation that is presented in the scenario.
