Course Contents | Principles of science education in the pre-primary school. Contemporary teaching methods. The scientific methods and its application in the science classroom. Teaching science through problem solving. Science concepts in the pre-primary science curriculum: Living organisms (humans, animals, plants), properties of water, human senses, ecology, magnetism, electricity, forces and movement of objects. Attitudes towards science. Children’s ideas in science. | ||||||||||

Planned learning activities and teaching methods | The course teaching will heavily rely on experiential and collaborative learning activities. A blended teaching mode, using lectures and scientific investigations that include laboratory work, will be used to enhance students’ scientific investigation skills and scientific reasoning. Course work is expected to facilitate students in acquiring research skills regarding the identification of children’s ideas in science. Furthermore, course work is expected to enhance students’ skills in planning and teaching science lessons. | ||||||||||
