| Learning Outcomes of the course unit | By the end of the course, the students should be able to:- Define and contrast the basic principles and the meaning of the artistic movements in the history of modern art.
- Apply various methods of painting for the understanding of the main characteristics from the art works in different artistic movements.
- Define art works of Cypriot and European modern Artists; analyze the main aesthetical elements of their art works.
- Identify and explain the aesthetical characteristics of different art works of modern art.
- Outline different ways of practical projects for the teaching of modern art in pre-primary schools with different techniques and materials.
- Apply different methods of creation in 3D objects such as the use of clay.

Course Contents | · Theory of the meaning and basic principles of the art works and a variety of artists in different movements of modern art.
· Presentation of art works of modern art / Analysis of their main aesthetical characteristics.
· Practical approaches of artistic expression through different materials and techniques based on the characteristics of the artistic movements of the history of modern art.
· Practical approaches with clay.
· Visits at a Museum and art gallery/visit to a Cypriot artist’s studio.
