Learning Outcomes of the course unitBy the end of the course, the students should be able to:
  1. Identify the major bones, muscles, blood vessels, nerves, joints and organs of the human body
  2. Describe the internal and external-superficial anatomical structure of the human body
  3. Define the rules and the logic for the name determination and the classification of anatomical, histological and cytological structures of the body
  4. Explain the histology, pathology and anatomy of cells, tissues, organs and systems of the human body
  5. Explain the relevance between the anatomical, histological and cytological structures of the body with the normal and abnormal clinical manifestation

Course Contents

Introduction to the science of Anatomy and Histology/Pathology: The milestones in the history of Anatomy.

The importance and the contribution in the advancement of health science

External anatomy: The main parts of the human body, the axes and the levels which is separated

Internal anatomy: Major bones, muscles, blood vessels, nerves, joints and organs

Histology/Pathology: Cell and tissue structure. The function of the nucleus, the cytoplasm, the organelles and the cell membrane. The process of cell division (mitosis and reduction), the growth and reproduction of autosomal and germ cells. Inheritance and carcinogenesis mechanisms. Cell and tissue specialization

Laboratory work: Demonstration and description of the human skeleton and the viscera the human body

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The taught part of course is delivered to the students by means of lectures, conducted with the help of computer presentations. Lecture notes and presentations are available through the web for students to use in combination with the textbooks.

Lectures are supplemented with laboratory work. During laboratory sessions, students are demonstrated everything that were taught in the lecture sessions
