Learning Outcomes of the course unitBy the end of the course, the students should be able to:
  1. Apply knowledge related to providing basic nursing care to patients or healthy clients in the health services system, to planning preoperative and postoperative nursing care, to addressing health problems of patients
  2. Acknowledge the necessity of communication with the health care team and with the supportive environment of the patient to provide basic nursing care
  3. Recognize that patient entry in health services system creates stress and apply skills to adapt and the basic principles of nutrition, hydration, medication, administration of oxygen.
  4. Assess the state of the patient given the physical, psychological, social, spiritual and environmental factors.
  5. Recognize the role of the nurse in the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation.
  6. Discuss knowledge and ability to apply techniques or skills to meet the needs of comfort, rest, sleep, hygiene, safety, preservation of integrity skin and
  7. Demonstrate ability to design nursing care for meeting patients needs, according to Maslow's Theory

Course Contents

During Clinical Practice I, students practice in nursing procedures and techniques learned in the courses

Introduction to Nursing and Basic Nursing I, such as:

Applying techniques for assessing health

Taking nursing history

Taking vital signs

Hand Hygiene

Preparation of material for sterilization

Use sterile equipment

Technical use of sterile gloves

Positions of patient in bed

Hygiene of bedridden patient

Medication

Preparation and participation in diagnostic tests

Prevention and care of pressure ulcers

Assessment and care planning for patients with common health problems

Preoperative patient preparation

Postoperative care of patient

Wound care

Giving oxygen

Feeding a patient
