Learning Outcomes of the course unitBy the end of the course, the students should be able to:
  1. Describe the developmental of infancy and childhood.
  2. List the general principles of immunization and types of vaccinations.
  3. List the normal psychosocial needs of hospitalized infants and children.
  4. Explain the ways of facing and helping ill-treated (assaulted) children as well as the ways of providing the best care for the welfare of children with special needs.
  5. Estimate, analyze and evaluate the needs of children in order to plan and apply the appropriate nursing care to children with cancer and leukemia, with problems of hydration, nutrition, infections, lung, cardiovascular and urological problems.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is delivered to the students by means of lectures, conducted with the help of computer-based presentations. Lecture notes and presentations are available through the web for students to use in combination with the textbooks.

In Laboratories lectures and demonstrations by laboratory instructors and exercises are performed by the students under the guidance and supervision of laboratory instructors.

In clinical teaching, demonstrations and supervised (by clinical instructors) nursing interventions applications are used.
