| Learning Outcomes of the course unit | By the end of the course, the students should be able to:- List the principles of care for healthy infants and children, the stages of growth and development, the general principles of immunisation and vaccinations, the physical, emotional and social needs of hospitalised infants and children, and the physiology of childbirth.
- Assess the care needs of children with a tumour, leukaemia, with hydration, nutrition, infection and other pathological and surgical problems, and with emergency problems during all stages of childbirth.
- Assess, plan and provide nursing care in the context of children and adolescent Gynaecology, for infertility, menopause, benign-malignant breast disease and diseases of the female genital tract in premenstrual syndrome, dysmenorrhea, polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis and adenomyosis, pelvic floor dysfunction, sexually transmitted diseases, problematic reproduction, infant feeding, artificial feeding and infant loss.
- Monitor the activities in gynaecological units, gynaecological infections, sexually transmitted infections (chlamydial infections, syphilis, virus warts, genital herpes, HIV, AIDS).
- Organise and apply basic and advanced CPR, the general principles of nursing pre-hospital treatment of patients with emergency problems including advanced wound care and treatment of burns.
- Identify and describe the aetiology and symptomatology, signs and treatment for respiratory failure, shock, problems from inhaling toxic substances.
- Describe, implement and evaluate techniques for securing airway and supporting the respiratory and circulatory systems, immobilising patients with fractures, dislocations, head and chest injuries, and nursing care for abdominal and chest pain, dyspnoea, seizures, coma, fainting, poisoning, ophthalmic, ENT, genitourinary, dermatological, orthopaedic and gastrointestinal emergencies.

Course Contents | Clinical Practice III is completed by students in clinical areas with guidance and supervision by clinical instructors so as to comprehend and apply in real situations the theory they were taught in the modules: Medical Nursing II, Surgical Nursing II, Paediatric Nursing, Gynaecological and Maternity Nursing, Emergency Nursing. In particular, students plan the care of patients with medical or surgical problems:
Cancer
Immunological disorders
Neurological, renal and sensory disorders
Pain
Planning perioperative care of surgical patients
Staffing and organisation of the operating theatre
Care of patients in the operating theatre and in the anaesthesiology unit
Planning of care for children with common paediatric problems
Tumours and leukaemia
Nutritional problems, hydration, urinary, parasitic, respiratory, heart, skin, and congenital anomalies and emergencies
Planning of care for patients with gynaecological disorders
Planning of care for pregnant women, new mothers and the new-born
First Aid in the Emergency Department
Assistance with CPR
Assistance in the treatment of patients with multiple traumas in the Emergency Department
Wound care and assistance in the application of plaster cast |
