Learning Outcomes of the course unitBy the end of the course, the students should be able to:
  1. Define ideas in the framework of the project given developing abstract, representational or conceptual approaches according to the individual concept employed.
  2. Review experimentation and research work using diverse techniques and media and recognise and focus on innovative results.
  3. Examine related artists and their diverse approaches used in contemporary art dealing with cultural social and racial issues.
  4. Examine the innovative use of relevant materials and content in the experimentation process. Develop ability to work in series.
  5. Plan presentation on a series of visuals derived from the initial research process, open to group discussion.
  6. Debate on issues of interest proposed from the final presentation or group discussion, ability to use feedback in a constructive manner and move towards conclusion of individual project to its final form.

Course Contents

Introduction on contemporary art issues current and historic in the context of the project theme given.

Ability in linking a variety of media with subject matter and individual concept.

Expanding the visual possibilities of image making derived from a series of drawings, collages or mixed media.

Acquiring wider perspective on playful image manipulation and appropriation.

Development of sketchbook and preparatory work, clarification of visual content and appropriate media applied.

Supporting individual ideas with current issues concerning contemporary art.

Emphasis on how the final result of a particular project can be presented in the context of an exhibition or formal presentation. For example framing, enclosing or dealing with free standing objects.
