Learning Outcomes of the course unitBy the end of the course, the students should be able to:
  1. record students’ personal initiation to observation, reading and thinking through architectural detail drawing representation
  2. develop students’ knowledge of the theoretical and practical aspects of techniques and materials through market research and presentation
  3. analyze and acquire skills in detail drawing, materials and techniques in spatial design through given elementary spaces and experiment with new forms and materials suitable for commercial spaces
  4. manage specific concepts and design proposals through the acquired advanced ability of communicational presentation and the imaginative use of interior materials, finishes, furnishing and lighting
  5. evaluate an integrated balanced interior sense with critical and professional understanding for the function, structure and material use of interior design and construction in shop design

Course Contents

Project analysis and research: Introduction and briefing on Detail Drawing and Portfolio Presentation for Interior Designers based on previous projects (ShopBiz, HoteL...).

Market Research: Local market research, visits and presentation to equip students with knowledge of the practical aspects of techniques and materials. Contact manufacturers, suppliers and engineers in order to acquire specific information based on their project.

2D detail drawing production: Selection of a specific detail of the shop and in depth exploration of complex detail drawings. Consideration is given to materials, mechanisms, functionality and design.

3D model production Model making workshop.  2D and 3D architectural drawings production and presentation. Lighting and photographing the model workshop.  Photographic manipulation and detail architectural drawings production.

Visual Presentation and Experimentation: Presentation proposals and experimentation through moodboards and professional portfolio.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The taught part of the course is delivered by means of illustrated lectures conducted with the help of computer presentations. Lectures also include video presentations.

Lectures are supplemented with extended project briefings, student research and presentation, group critiques and individual tutorials.

Practical workshops, exercises, and discussions on critical parts of the subject. Student centered practical work, personal research, realization and manipulation in project work.
