Learning Outcomes of the course unitBy the end of the course, the students should be able to:
  1. 1. Produce and present live and taped television programs
  2. Work with cameras during a television program or live interview.
  3. Examine and analyse all the production steps of a television program and the contributions from all participants in the production.
  4. Evaluate programs from local and international channels and the work done by all participants in these productions.
  5. Produce television programs bounded by time constraints and the complete coverage of a current-affairs topic using discussion, interview and report.

Course Contents

The functionality of current-affairs programs and their contribution to the television broadcast.

Duties, purpose and attributes

Multi-view research of current affairs and research procedures. Organisation of many views in a single current-affairs program.

Characteristics and interests of the audience. Representation of audience groups in current-affairs programs.

Preparation, organisation and in-studio presentation.

Types of TV interview. Staging and production of a TV interview. Characteristics of the journalist and the guest.

Types of talk shows, types of television magazines. Production and staging.

Planned learning activities and teaching methodsThe taught part of the course is delivered to the students by means of lectures. Lecture notes are available for students to use with the textbooks. Other methods used beside the lecture, are exercises and presentations.
