Course Contents | Definition of Development: Areas of Development, significant opinions in developmental psychology. Basic questions in development: Nature vs. Nurture, Continuity vs. Discontinuity, Active vs. Passive development, Sociopolitical factors in development. Theories of Development: Freud and psychosexual development, Erickson’s psychosocial theory, Piaget’s theory of cognitive development. Socio-political theories of development: Vygotsky’s theory, Bronfenbrenner’s ecological model. Behavioral theories: Bandura’s social learning theory. Psycho-social and emotional development: Psychosocial-emotional development during infancy, psychosocial-emotional development during pre-school and school age, psychosocial-emotional development during teenage years, early adulthood and old age. Theories of Moral Development: Kohlberg’s stages of Moral development, Gilligan’s social theory of moral development.
