| Learning Outcomes of the course unit | By the end of the course, the students should be able to:- Describe the main categories of humanistic theories which influenced the formation of the social work theory.
- Describe specifically three categorizations by: a) Malcolm Payne: Reflexive therapeutic views, socialist-collectivistic views, and individualist – reformist views, b) The clinical categorizations by Francis Turner, c) the recent categorization by Karen Healy.
- Explain especially the large scale categories of social work Models: the Problem-solving theories, the Systems theories, the Strengths perspective, the Anti-oppressive practice and the Postmodern practices.
- Describe the developmental phases of the Social Work Models.
- Describe the theoretical context of social work models.
- Describe the Intervention Models of Social Work Practise: The Psychodynamic/Psychosocial, the Crisis Intervention, the Task-Centered Model, the Systemic-Ecological, the Generic-Holistic, the Anti-oppressive and Anti-Discriminatory Model, the Post-Modern Model.
- Explain how these models are interconnected and how they are put into practice.

Course Contents | Course contents:
• Categorization of the main humanistic theories which formulated the theoretical context of Social Work Theory.
• Reference to two types of groupings according to (a) Malcolm Payne, (b) Karen Healy.
• Short analysis of the main categories of the Social Work Models.
• The theoretical context of the Social Work Models.
• Intervention Models of Social Work Practice: The Psychodynamic /Psychosocial Model, the Crisis Intervention Model, the Task-centered, the Systemic- Ecological the Generic-Holistic, the Anti-oppressive and Anti-discriminatory Model, the Post-Modern Model.
