Course Contents | The course is an introduction to Landscape Architecture. It begins with a brief history of landscape architecture, approaching the topic from: the perception and the notion of place and landscape, the traditional divisions between urban, rural and natural landscapes, as well as tools for understanding landscape values and typologies. During the second stage, students are asked to approach different scales and tools of landscape design, focusing on handling the ‘green’ structure as a basic design element. Additional information is provided on technical or practical aspects of landscape (soils, plants, structures, etc.) in the context of sustainable design. A small design studio on a landscape issue is integrated in the program in order for students to develop additional skills. | ||||||||
