1. Explain the history and theory of architecture in relation to the arts and technologies involved
2. Describe the influence of fine arts on architecture
3. Compare the relationship between the architectural project and the human, cultural and natural environment
4. Explain the social responsibility of the architect
5. List the interactions between the architectural design and regulations, organizations and industries

Introduction to the terms of society and sociology: Definition of society and overview of the main sociological approaches regarding space and the city.

Space as means of control: The use of space as a tool for manipulation. The typological formation of institutions such as prisons, hospitals, factories. Investigations regarding monuments and symbolic spaces.

The experience of space: Ways and modes of space perception. The use of mental maps as means of representing space according to selected physical elements.

City and society:  Contemporary theories for the city. 20^th century urban utopias for societies of the future.
