| Learning Outcomes of the course unit | By the end of the course, the students should be able to:- Recognize the architecture and art of the first half of the 19th in Europe ( the neoclassical revival), the beginning of the skyscraper in America and the art nouveau style of the end of the century and analyse the theories, techniques, technologies and materials of their creators.
- Identify the main building typologies and morphologies of the neoclassical revival era and their relationship to their art philosophy, culture and civilization in the various countries.
- Describe the principles inherent in the concepts of form and space in the new industrial revolution period, as well as distinguish how this era shapes the continuation of these principles from one country to the next .
- Collect, investigate and record information on historical and theoretical issues from a wide range of sources.
- Develop the ability to participate in multidisciplinary teams

Course Contents | · The industrial revolution:Τhe theories and socio-economical impact it had on the architecture and restructuring of the urban fabric.
· Neoclassical revival in architecture and art in Europe: Τhe theory, techniques and technologies of building and art in the Europe during the first half of the 19thc, and urban restructuring in the major cities, London, Paris, Berlin, St Petersburg etc.
· The American neoclassical revival and the beginnings of the scyscraper : Τhe theory, techniques and technologies of building and art that shaped the new world and consequently Europe and the rest of the world .
· Art nouveau style: Τhe theory, techniques and technologies of building and art in the art nouveau period in Europe.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods | The taught part of the course is delivered to students by means of lectures, conducted by electronic presentations. Lecture notes and pictures are given to students in electronic form. Lectures are supplemented by field trips to visit the colonial era architecture on the island |
