It is the essential introduction to the questions that concern the form and the organization of city, through a historical point of view. The objective of the course is the students’ comprehension of the reasoning that is found behind the transformations of the city and the connection with the economic, social and political dimensions of the structured environment. The students comprehend the city as a field of conflicting ideas and interests and they perceive urban practice as their attempt to manage it.
