Learning Outcomes of the course unitBy the end of the course, the students should be able to:
  1. Concentrate, investigate and process information
  2. Identify the methodologies and strategies followed in a paper by the writer in order to communicate certain meanings and concepts.
  3. Develop a scientific paper with clear structure, language, and style, using the right references that empower the argumentation.
  4. Expand the abilities for inventive ways of representation and visualization that empower the argumentation texts presenting projects.

Course Contents

·  Introduction to the art of communication through discourse: The various modes and styles of argumentation are presented in the context of concepts promotion and marketing of ideas and projects in the field of architecture.
·  The different modes of discourse: Presentation and analysis of texts written by architects regarding realized projects. Different methodologies and strategies of discourse for design justification are investigated
·  The architect in converse: Projection of documentaries in which architects expose their approach towards architecture.
·  Layout strategies: Promotion of various distinctive modes of presentation of the text using the tools of rendering, graphic design and collage.
·  Class Work: Individual or small groups sessions for the development of each student’s paper presenting his own studio project.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The taught part of course is delivered to the students by means of lectures, accompanied by screenings of documentaries. Lecture notes and presentations are available through the web for students to use in combination with the textbooks.
Lectures are supplemented with meetings for editing the paper that students develop throughout the semester in order to deliver a final outcome of high requirements.
