Learning Outcomes of the course unitBy the end of the course, the students should be able to:
  1. Identify the principles inherent in the writing of a scientific research paper, analyse a research question, research the topic and analyze the individual subject, research methodologies in architecture: eg surveying / typologies, bibliographical research (books, newspapers ,magazines), questionnaires / social research, explore scientific sources, examine information found on the internet.
  2. Comprehend and write about the methodology used in the research that led to the final solution.
  3. Apply the information gathered on the subject matter from a wide range of sources, into a structured layout.
  4. Analyse the gathered material and summarize own opinion on the research thesis with a personable manner in accordance to the regulations governing a research study.
  5. Prepare and present research in power point form. Identify the main points of the synopsis of the thesis in order to relate them to the presentation in oral form.

Course Contents

Rules governing the writing of a thesis: The general rules and divisions of a research paper, types of research.

Formation of Work: Creation of a proper Table of context for direction of the research, specification of the main aim, introduction, methodology, analysis, synthesis and conclusion.

Bibliographical research: ?he rules that govern scientific bibliographical research and use.

Presentation of research paper: How are pictures graphs etc incorporated in the overall presentation, what are important presentation techniques and rules to follow.

    The taught part of the course is delivered to students by means of lectures, conducted by electronic presentations. Many examples of older research papers are presented.
